Momkus McCluskey LLC recently announced it was naming attorney Lauryn Parks its newest Partner. Ms. Parks is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Employment Law groups.

Ms. Parks joined Momkus McCluskey LLC in 2007, and provides a wealth of knowledge in matters of employment litigation, commercial litigation and business disputes. Her experience includes all aspects of litigation and appellate law, as well as consulting with and advising employers and business executives on matters of employment agreements, restrictive covenants, compensation issues, employee handbooks, and employee separations.

Successful Motion for Summary Judgment in Cook County Healthcare Provider Defense Case



Attorney Matthew A. Arnold and Associate Kristy K. Singler recently successfully litigated a pressure ulcer case on behalf of a healthcare provider in Cook County. The judge granted their motion for summary judgment dismissing the healthcare provider. The judge ruled the Plaintiff failed to establish a cause of action against the healthcare provider based upon the records and deposition testimony from the healthcare provider’s nurses.

There were well over 40,000 pages of records, and the Plaintiff claimed nearly $1 million in damages for a pressure ulcer which was the size of a dinner plate when the patient passed away. The team not only kept the care by the healthcare provider from being criticized by the Plaintiff’s experts, they were able to convince the Plaintiff’s attorney that keeping the healthcare provider in the lawsuit would not be in the Plaintiff’s best

The law firm of Momkus McCluskey LLC congratulates attorney Gerald A. Cassioppi on his installation as the president of the DuPage County Bar Association’s Board of Directors. Cassioppi officially took on the leadership role during the DCBA’s Presidents’ Ball and Installation Dinner June 9 at the Drake in Oak Brook. Momkus McCluskey LLC attorney Stacey A. McCullough was also installed as the DCBA’s second vice president during the event.

DuPage County Attorney Gerald A. Cassioppi joins a long list of past DCBA presidents, dating back more than 100 years. The president heads the DCBA’s Board of Directors, which leads the DCBA in its mission to provide education and networking opportunities for attorneys in DuPage County. Cassioppi was elected as the DCBA’s third vice president in 2014. He has been on a track of ascending leadership on the board, culminating with his one-year term as president for 2017-18.

Cassioppi provides businesses with legal counsel on various topics, such as commercial contracts, executive compensation, employee contracts and real estate. He has worked with businesses ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. Cassioppi is currently the chairman of the DuPage County Ethics Commission and has served as general counsel to the DCBA and as a member of the Naperville District 203 School Board and Naperville Transportation Advisory Board. The DCBA named him its 2012 Lawyer of the Year. Cassioppi received his juris doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law and is a certified public accountant.

James F. McCluskey Installed as President-Elect of the Illinois State Bar Association

Long-serving member continues active role in ISBA leadership as President-Elect

James F. McCluskey, a founding member of the law firm Momkus McCluskey LLC in Lisle, Illinois, was installed as President-Elect of the Illinois State Bar Association during a recent ceremony.

A long-time member and officer of the ISBA, McCluskey was chosen as 3rd Vice President in a state-wide election in 2015, and served the organization as its 2nd Vice President the past 12 months. Prior to that, he was elected ISBA Secretary in 2013, was a member of the Board of Governors and previously served as a member of its Assembly. He was chairman of the Board’s Agenda and Practice Committee, and served on its Civil Practice & Procedure Council, as well as its Allerton House Committee. McCluskey is in line to serve as ISBA President in 2018.

James McCluskey concentrates his practice in the trial of commercial cases before all State and Federal Courts in Illinois, and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. In addition to his service on the ISBA Board of Governors, he is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association, having held a number of key posts in both organizations over the years, including bar president from 2001 to 2002. He also holds memberships in the Kane County Bar Association, West Suburban Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Cook County and DuPage Justinian’s, and chaired the Illinois Bar Association’s Facilities & Technology Committee.

Attorney Kristy K. Singler attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she received her J.D., and she earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mrs. Singler was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1999.

DuPage County lawyer Kristy K. Singler has received honorable accolades such as numerous “Rising Star” nominations from Chicago Magazine. She earned this accolade for four consecutive years, from 2008 to 2011. Mrs. Singler was a member of the Chicago Inns of Court and maintains active memberships with local and state bar associations.
