Visitation & Parenting Agreements
Visitation & Parenting Agreements Attorneys Headquartered in DuPage County
When a marriage or long-term relationship ends and a child is involved, a parenting agreement is necessary to define how both parties will co-parent in the future. Parenting agreements address a number of issues including: child custody, child support and visitation. Co-parenting with an ex-spouse (or ex-partner) can be challenging and wrought with conflict. A solid parenting agreement establishes clear expectations for both parents so that they can focus on the best interests of the child.
At Momkus McCluskey, LLC, we are experienced in helping clients establish reasonable parenting agreements that serve the needs of the child and the interests of the parents. We educate our clients on Illinois laws and legal guidelines as they apply to parenting agreements, and we work with our clients to craft agreements that fit the unique needs of their families.
Experienced Lawyers Handling Visitation Agreements
For cases in which one parent has custody of the child, a visitation agreement for the non-custodial parent must be established. Visitation plans are used to ensure the non-custodial parent has parenting time with the child on a regular basis and remains an active participant in the child’s life. A visitation agreement can be negotiated or mediated between parents, or the court can establish visitation.
A visitation agreement schedules when the child will be in the care of the non-custodial parent on a weekly basis, during holidays and during school breaks. It also makes specifications for how children will be exchanged (i.e. picked up at the custodial parent’s home). A visitation agreement may also address phone calls and other communication between the child and the non-custodial parent.
At Momkus McCluskey, LLC, we strive to resolve parenting issues as amicably as possibly in order to preserve harmony in the family going forward. Having parents who can co-parent cooperatively is always in the best interest of the child. Where that is not possible, however, our attorneys offer strong advocacy in service of our clients parenting wishes. Whether through negotiation, mediation or litigation, we help clients establish parenting agreements that provide a solid foundation for their child’s well-being.
