News + EventsJim McCluskey's Recent Verdict Continues String of "NGs"On August 15, 2002, a Chicago federal court jury returned a "Not Guilty" verdict for the defendant in the case of Renee Larson v. The Diocese of Joliet. Jim McCluskey successfully tried the case, which involved the plaintiff's fall in a parking lot owned by Momkus McCluskey, LLC's client, The Diocese of Joliet. The plaintiff's special damages exceeded $60,000, and the plaintiff's attorney asked the jury to award total damages of $378,000. The jury returned the "NG" after one and one-half hours of deliberations. Jim's successful result for the firm's client was the latest of several recently obtained by Jim and other firm attorneys. Jim obtained "Not Guilty" verdicts in trials in April 2002, November 2001, and October 2001. In all the cases, the plaintiff asked the jury to award damages over $100,000. Angelo Spyratos obtained an "NG" in O'Connell v. Rotcovich, a case he tried in the Circuit Court of Cook County in May 2002. And Heather Genck obtained a "Not Guilty" directed verdict on behalf of Wal-Mart in a case she tried last winter. |
