General Counsel Services

The Business and Corporate law practice group contains within it a group of senior attorneys who have many years of experience representing companies, large and small, as General Counsel.

As General Counsel, these attorneys have been responsible for all the legal affairs of the companies for which they worked, either as employees or as outside counsel. They have encountered, and successfully dealt with, the vast majority of legal issues that face companies today.

When working on an in-house basis as General Counsel, these senior attorneys have not only been responsible for the legal affairs of their respective companies, but also have served in positions as senior officers with business and administrative responsibilities. They understand how businesses operate and the practical effect on business operations of the legal advice and services they provide. They also understand when legal services are not required to resolve an issue and the need to control the cost of legal services when legal services are required. In many cases, when acting as outside General Counsel, they have responsibility for supervising and controlling the cost of legal services provided by other attorneys. They understand how to work with, and as part of, the client company's management team.

The firm recognizes that budgeting for, and payment of expenses, including legal expenses, is important to the management of client companies. The firm will work with the client to determine a method of payment for legal services that meets the client's needs.
