James P. Marsh , B.A. 1983 Eastern Illinois University and J.D. 1988 John Marshall Law School. Prior to joining the Firm in 1997, Jim practiced at a large Chicago-based litigation firm. Jim's practice concentrates in the areas of casualty defense, municipal liability, insurance coverage, appellate, and professional liability defense litigation. For several years, he authored a bi-monthly column on legal issues for the trade publication, Appliance, a magazine with a worldwide circulation of 35,000. Jim also co-authored the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education chapter on fire and explosion liability in its Premises Liability edition. His experience and achievements include:
- Litigation, arbitration and mediation of disputes involving commercial, municipal, construction, product liability, professional negligence, and personal injury in state and federal courts
- Trial of numerous jury and bench cases in state courts throughout Illinois
- Representation of clients in appeals in state and federal appellate courts, including presentation of oral argument and obtaining published opinions in several cases
- Presentation of numerous seminars for professional associations and firm clients on various issues
Jim is a member of the Defense Research Institute, illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, and the DuPage County Bar Association, and is the former (2001-02) Editor the DCBA Brief.
