Attorneys

Edward J. Momkus, B.A. 1974 Elmhurst College and J.D. 1977 Northwestern University School of Law, served in positions from Staff Attorney to General Counsel in the Corporate Law Departments of Leaseway Transportation Corporation, Evans Products Company, Sunbeam Corporation and Gottlieb Properties, Inc. before entering private practice. Ed acts as the general counsel to several organizations, guiding them through the maze of legal requirements that affect businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Ed's extensive experience in a wide range of business transactions, legal compliance issues, and tax-driven business planning are the ideal foundation for his role as general counsel. Ed' knowledge and experience is supported by the expertise of the team of transactional attorneys of the firm, all of whom comprise a full service law department that is available to address any legal issue that affects either for-profit or not-for-profit entities. His experience and achievements include:

• Negotiating, drafting and closing business transactions of all kinds, including manufacturing contracts, purchase agreements, equipment leases, corporate and partnership formation, business succession and sales of businesses
• Designing and implementing internal systems which help organizations avoid legal liabilities, including systems designed to achieve and maintain desired tax status
• Assisting in the development of tax-based succession planning that is coordinated with individual estate plans
• Negotiating, drafting and closing real estate transactions of all kinds, including office and industrial leases, construction contracts, financing agreements and real estate partnerships
• Representing businesses and other organizations before various government entities

Ed is the Founding Member and managing Partner of the Firm. He is licensed in Illinois and Ohio and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association. Ed is also a Trustee of Elmhurst College and the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, a past Board Member of the Oak Brook Area Chamber of Commerce and is involved with various other not-for-profit organizations.
